The 2 most popular WordPress Themes, in terms of sales. First, if
If you want an easy to use
Divi has a much larger community along with community resources behind it. If you need help or a tutorial, they are very easy to find.
Features and ease of use aside, I feel Divi is also a better value in that you can use it to build without limitations and it has a longer support period. For me, Divi is the winner of this comparison based on access to modern features, its front end page building experience, you can build unlimited websites, and a full year of support.

“This is why the website building experience in WordPress is so far behind Wix and SquareSpace.” Are you saying that WIX and Squarespace are better platform on which to build?
I would have to agree with you there. Something to think about for sure.
The concept of DIVI “for life” of the site has always been a show stopper. Now with Guttenburg even more so. I predict in a few years Divi and other page builders will be obsolete. For that matter, Avada and themes may be obsolete as well.
Well, I do think there is some danger ahead for many themes and plugins. Divi and Avada have content lock-in. Someone recently made a free plugin to remove the shortcodes from Divi though, something Divi should have done a very long time ago.
Could you please clear a little more for non-techie as you recommend ASTRA with Elementor?
DIVI is so resourceful with a good organization and a huge community (that can be of great support about any customization advice or free resources like layouts etc). If shortcodes are banned by WP then DIVI developers must go for alternatives to support their huge community for websites. Don’t we expect that logical and ethical issues? What you think about it?
In contrast what about ASTRA? Even simple features like parallax effect, mega menu, etc are not available let alone other advanced options (though there are plug-ins to solve). May be they grow over time, that’s another issue.
If anyone wants to build a multi-vendor e-commerce standard website do you think ASTRA is smart enough to go ahead with it? If not, then please suggest for the said website so that as non-techie we can proceed.
Thanks for your opinion!
Yes, Divi has been in business since 2009 which is a very long time. Which has pros in the sense that its a mature product with a huge userbase, but there are cons as well which is legacy code. They are very restricted in what they can do because it may break hundreds of thousands of websites. This is why the website building experience in WordPress is so far behind Wix and SquareSpace. Sure Astra is a newer theme that is growing at a fast pace, but it is much more advanced then Divi is or will be. Sure it doesn’t have parallax, why, because you use a page builder for that, not a theme. Also mega menu is on the way.
Regarding that recent Divi article on a multi-vendor marketplace, that has nothing to do with Divi. That tutorial will work on any theme that supports WooCommerce.
So the final analysis is that neither gets a real ‘yes’ recommendation. In a comparison of two things, I get that one is rated higher than the other, but if not recommendable, then what’s the alternative? I’m on this article to make a decision of what theme to get. If not one of these, then which one meets the criteria set out here? Thanks
Well, I believe I do recommend one over the other here. And also I feel that there are better alternatives available, more specifically the Astra Theme paired with Elementor.
Great comparison. I have proudly supported Elegant Themes since before Divi. Divi is an amazing builder and gets better every day.
Yes, Divi has really done a great job these last few months with bringing modern design features to their builder.
