InMotion Hosting Vs SiteGround 2024

by Adam Preiser updated Feb 23, 2024

InMotion Hosting is a web hosting company that offers shared hosting, reseller hosting, and VPS’s.

SiteGround is a highly recommended web host online because they have catered to WordPress users and yet still have affordable pricing. They are most known for their fast performance and equally fast support.

Current Pricing: $2.95
Current Pricing: $6.99

Both solid web hosting companies that use SSD hard drives and include free SSL certificates. I do have to give the edge to InMotion Hosting because their SSL certificates are easier to activate and are from a better issuer. The performance with SiteGround is slightly better, but the cost is also much higher. With the exclusive 57% discount that InMotion Hosting provides for my subscribers, it’s really hard to pass that deal up.

InMotion Hosting Pros

InMotion Hosting Cons

If you are transferring from another web host to InMotion Hosting, the transfer process can take some time. With so many new customers signing up each day for new website hosting, the transfer queue can get backed up.

This is why I created a tutorial video on how to speed up the process by doing the majority of it yourself, fast and easy.

SiteGround Cons

  • Usage Is Metered / Limited
  • When Going Over Limits, Your Website Is Throtlled
  • Lacks Malware Removal
  • Renewal Price Is High

Everyone raves about SiteGround support and I will agree that it’s better than most. It’s not perfect though, I have some issues that they didn’t fix properly.

  1. Good morning Adam,

I am looking for a wordpress shared hosting. I have a one page portfolio site with multiple anchors. It is made up of primarily images and videos.

Low traffic to start. Less than 50,000 for sure in the first year.

I have no prior experience with web hosting or having a website.

    I live in Canada.

I have narrowed it down to Inmotion and Siteground based on their reputations in customer support.

I will not be earning revenue directly from the site so cost effectiveness is a huge factor.

Based on this criteria what would you recommend?

Thank you for your informative content.

  2. I am currently hosting with SiteGround, however my renewal is coming up and I am a little disappointed with the significant price increase.

I am based in Melbourne Australia and am wondering of your hosting suggestion?

I initially chose SiteGround for the data centre based in Singapore, and have not found any other international hosts with locations close to Australia.

    1. I’m in the same boat as you Steven, but based in NZ. Siteground has been great, but the ongoing prices has made me look around and so far InMotion is looking really good.

Using a CDN for your content will probably help with the performance, well that’s what I’m intending to do.

  3. Hey Adam, thanks for all your help and advice!! I’m wondering what package you have with InMotion for your 20 websites?

I’m currently on a R2000-S reseller plan and I want to upgrade to improve performance. I think the shared hosting is killing my performance.

I’m considering the VPS-1000 reseller plan but I don’t know if I might be better off to ditch the reseller plans and manage things myself on a WordPress Managed hosting plan like WP-5000S.

I only have about 6-7 websites currently. One website having the most traffic is a course site using Lifter.

  4. I am in the process to buy a hosting. Have 2 in my list: inmotion and siteground.
Based on your review I should choose inmotion hosting, however ther is big difference in price between wordpress plans between stieground and inmotion.
So, should I choose inmotion share hosting instead wordpress plan?
Why should I choose inmotion hosting?
PS: I am living in the UK.

    2. Kind of personal question: which plan do you have?

    Thanks,

    1. I think part of the price difference is the discount InMotion Hosting gives to my subscribers. It’s totally up to you, but services are going to be quite similar.

I have a few InMotion plans. All my demo videos are done on their lowest priced plan.
